Antonio Canova. Beauty and memory

Until October 21st 2013, in Buonarroti's home  in Florence will be held an exhibition "Beauty and the memory'', edited by Giuliana Ericani, on a important protagonist of neoclassical Antonio Canova. Exhibition presents drawings and especially engravings of the master, expression of the moment of planning, and some casts refined.

The exhibition's themes  are beauty and memory, two cornerstones of philosophical and artistic creativity among pre-Romanticism and purism. The "beauty" is embodied in the female figure, which results in Canova "Italica Venus", designed and built for the Tribuna of the Uffizi Gallery between 1804 and 1812, that will be showed in its  extraordinary  plaster. The Memory's theme  is recognizable thanks to exhibition of  the study, design and implementation of the beautiful and suggestive Tomb of Vittorio Alfieri (realized between 1806 and 1810), in the basilica of Santa Croce. The exhibition is organized thanks to the cooperation between Casa Buonarroti and  the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa, and is promoted by the cultural association "Metamorfosi".
